Classes at Shepherd's Wool
 All Classes are held at: Shepherd’s Wool, 101 E. Wall Street, Eagle River, WI 54521

  Class Hours are: 10:00 - 3:00 
Students are encouraged to bring a lunch.  Refrigerator & Microwave are available if needed.
NOTE:  NO CLASS REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN WITHIN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO CLASS DATE. 
IF YOU STILL WISH TO TAKE A CLASS, BUT SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT DATE -BUT IT'S WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE CLASS DATE-YOU WILL NEED TO RE-REGISTER AGAIN.

"2026" - Class Schedule

February 12th - Thursday (10am-3pm) - This Class is "Full"
"Needle Felting"
Learn the basics of Needle Felting. Students will work on a needle felting kit. 
Tuition: $55.00 (Everything is included in tuition to complete a project)

February 28th - Saturday (10am-3pm) - This Class is "Full"
"Wool Applique" 
Students choose a wool applique pattern from the store prior to class & instructor will have this ready for them on class date. Class instruction will cover basic wool applique techniques, the use of stabilizers, threads & stitches.
Tuition: $35.00 plus supplies (pattern/wool/threads-price varies depending on student's choice).

March 14th & 28th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Traditional Oval Braided Rug"
Students learn how to braid a continuous 2'x3' oval rug. If students wish to make a different size oval, please contact the instructor prior to class.
Note: Basic hand sewing or sewing machine skills are required.
Tuition: $75.00 (Tuition covers instruction for both sessions.) Supplies Needed: Booklet $19./Wool-6 yards at $36. per yard / Lacing Thread $14. / Lacer $4. / Clamp (optional) $65. (Note: Wool needed for a braided rug is based on approximately 1-yard per square foot.)

March 19th - Thursday (10am-3pm) - "This Class is FULL"
"Introduction to Traditional Rug Hooking w/Wool Fabric"
Students choose a small pattern from the store that they wish to work on.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (pattern/wool/hook/hoop prices vary depending on student's choice).

March 21st - Saturday (10am-3pm)
"Cross Stitching with Jeralyn Lorenz"
Celebrate the 250th anniversary of America signing of the Declaration of Independence. To commemorate, students will be working on cross stich pattern, "Parade Sam" by Notforgotten Farm.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (pattern-$10 / threads & foundation cloth vary depending on student choice. Students can feel free to bring their own hoop or frame to class or can purchase one from our store.) 

April 2nd - Thursday (10am-3pm)
"Traditional Braided Chair Pad or Round Rug"
Students learn how to braid a continuous chair pad or can choose to add more wool to make into a round rug.
Note: Basic hand sewing or sewing machine skills are required.
Tuition: $35.
plus supplies (Booklet $19. / Lacing Thread $7. / Lacer $4. / Clamp (optional) $65.)

April 11th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Springtime at Shepherd's Wool"
Students can choose from a variety of kits that will be made available for this lass. Come & see the new things Shepherd's Wool has for this spring! Instruction will be provided for all kits that will be made available in class.
Tuition: $25. plus whichever kit student chooses to work on.

April 16th - Thursday (10am - 3pm)
"Adding Braids to Rug Hooking" 
Students need to come to class with a project already hooked or near completion.
Note: Basic hand & sewing skills are required.
Tuition: $45. plus supplies / Supplies Needed: Wool (price varies), Lacing Thread ($5.50), Instruction Booklet ($19.00), Lacer ($4.00) only need lacer if adding more than one braided row, Braiding Clamp-optional ($65.00)

April 18th - Saturday (10am - 3pm) - This Class is "Full"
"Rug Punch with Mary Shepherd" 
Mary is a certified Oxford Punch Needle Teacher. Students will learn the basics of rug punch style of rug making with wool yarn. Small pattern will be taught by the instructor.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (punch needle $45. / pattern $35. / yarn-price varies)

May 2nd & 16th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Traditional Oval Braided Rug"
Students learn how to braid a continuous 2'x3' oval rug. If students wish to make a different size oval, please contact the instructor prior to class.
Note: Basic Hand or machine sewing skills are required.
Tuition: $75. (Tuition covers instruction for both sessions)

May 9th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Hook a Footstool" - "This Class is Full"
Note: This class will be held in the lower level of our building, so students must be able to navigate stairs. Students should have some rug hooking experience prior to enrolling in this class.  This is a two-part class. A follow up class will be scheduled for students to construct the footstool once hooking has been completed.

Students will learn how to hook & assemble a footstool using the footstool/patterns at Shepherd's Wool. These can be hooked with traditional rug hooking wool fabric strips or rug punched with yarn. Instructions will also be given on how to make your own pattern for a footstool that you might find at a thrift store, or just one that you have in your home that you wish to cover with rug hooking.

Part 1: May 9th: We will discuss the styles of footstools, pattern choices, color planning & techniques for hooking footstools.
Part 2: October 10th: Will check-in with students prior to this date, to see progress & assemble footstools for those who are ready. (Note: Another date will be scheduled for those needing more time to complete their footstool).
Tuition: $60. (covers both days of class) Students will choose style of footstool & pattern - price varies.

May 23rd - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Introduction to Traditional Rug Hooking w/Wool Fabric"

June 4th & 18th - Thursday (10am - 3pm)

June 27th - Saturday (10am - 4pm)
"Dyeing to Try It!"
Learn how to make beautiful hand-dyed colored wool fabric using several different dye methods.
Note: This is a hands on class and will be held in the lower level of our building so students must be able to navigate stairs.
Tuition: $65. (Includes instruction & dyed wool samples)

July 9th - Thursday (10am - 3pm)
"Introduction to Traditional Rug Hooking w/Wool Fabric"
Students choose a small pattern from the store that they wish to work on.
Tuition: $35.00 plus supplies (pattern/wool/hook/hoop prices vary depending on student's choice.)

July 11th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)

"Punch Needle Embroidery"
Students learn the basics of punch needle embroidery and choose a pattern from Shepherd's Wool that they wish to work on in class.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies
(Varies depending on what pattern/threads/hoop student chooses.)

July 25th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Christmas in July"
Start a project in July and have it done in plenty of time for Christmas!  Students can choose a Christmas Rug Hooking Pattern, Christmas Punch Needle Pattern or a Christmas Wool Applique Pattern from Shepherd's Wool to work on in class. 
Tuition: $25. plus supplies (Varies depending on what student chooses.)

August 8th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Hooking w/Homespun Fabric"
A twist on Traditional Rug Hooking with wool fabric strips. Learn Hooking with Homespun Cotton Fabric by working on a small kit. Students can choose from a couple of small projects that will be available as kits.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (Kit price varies depending on what student chooses. Supplies also needed are a Hoop or Frame & Rug Hook - you can bring these from home or purchase at Shepherd's Wool.)

August 15th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Wool Applique"
Students choose a wool applique pattern from the store prior to class & instructor will have this ready for them on class date.  Class instruction will cover basic wool applique techniques, the use of stabilizers, threads and stitches.

August 20th - Thursday (10am - 3pm)

September 12th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Welcome Fall" 
Students choose from a variety of Autumn, Halloween & Thanksgiving, kits to work on.  Instructions on all projects is provided by instructor.
Tuition: $25. plus supplies (price varies depending on what is chosen by student to work on.)

September 25th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Wide Cut Rug Hooking w/Wool Fabric using Dip Dyed Wools"
Students will learn the technique of using dipped dyed wools while hooking a wide cut pattern design. 
Three pattern choices will be available for students to choose from.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (price varies depending on what pattern is chosen by student.  Dip Dyed wool will be available. A primitive hook and a hoop or frame will also be needed.)

October 17th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Traditional Braided Chair Pad or Round Rug"
Students learn how to braid a continuous chair pad or can choose to add more wool to make into a round rug.
Note: Basic hand sewing skills are required.

October 24th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Wintertime Fun!"
Get ready for winter! Students choose from variety of Winter & Christmas project kits. 
Tuition: $25. plus supplies (Varies depending on what student chooses to work on.)

October 29th - Thursday (10am - 3pm)
"Adding a Braided Edge to Rug Hooking" 
Student's need to come to class with a rug hooking project already hooked or near completion. Adding a butted braided border onto hooking will be taught using a 3-step, picture method developed by Shepherd's Wool. Note: Hand & basic sewing skills are required.
Tuition: $45. plus supplies. Supplies Needed: Wool for Braid (price varies), Lacing Thread ($5.50), Shepherd's Wool Braiding Booklet- if you don't already have one: ($19.), Lacer ($4.) only needed if adding more than one braided row, Braiding Clamp: $65. (optional) 

November 7th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Punch Needle Embroidery"

Note: This class will be held at the lower level of our building, so students must be able to navigate stairs. Students should have some rug hooking experience prior to enrolling in this class. November 21st - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Punch a Turkey"
Rug punch with yarn - Student's will work on a small turkey pattern. 
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (pattern / yarn / hook & frame if needed.)

December 3rd - Thursday (10am- 3pm)
"Introduction to Traditional Rug Hooking with Wool Fabric"
Students choose a small pattern from Shepherd's Wool that they wish to work on in class.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (pattern/wool/hook/hoop prices vary depending on student's choice.)

December 5th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Needle Felting"

Learn the basics of Needle Felting. Students choose a needle felting kit from Shepherd's Wool to work on in class.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (varies depending on kit that is chosen by student)

December 12th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"It's a Wrap"
Relax & have fun at Shepherd's Wool while working on finishing up a project for Christmas or end of year.
Guidance available from instructor if needed. Shepherd's Wool Santa will have some give aways to attendees.
Students are asked to bring potluck (finger foods, dessert, snack, veggies/fruits, etc.) for a shared lunch.
