Students are encouraged to bring a lunch. Refrigerator & Microwave are available if needed.

January 8th - Thursday (10am-3pm)
"Introduction to Traditional Rug Hooking"
Students choose a small rug hooking pattern from the store that they wish to work on. Color planning w/instructor will be done prior to class date.
Tuition: $35.00 plus supplies (pattern/wool/hook/hoop prices vary depending on student's choice)
January 24th - Saturday (10am-3pm) - This Class is "Full"
"Traditional Braided Chair Pad or Round Rug"
Students learn how to braid a continuous chair pad or can choose to add more wool to make into a round rug.
Note: Basic hand sewing or sewing machine skills are required.
Tuition: $35.00 plus supplies (Booklet $19.00/Lacing Thread $7.00 / Lacer $4.00 / Clamp (optional) $65.)
February 12th - Thursday (10am-3pm)
"Needle Felting"
Learn the basics of Needle Felting. Students will work on a needle felting kit.
Tuition: $55.00 (Everything is included in tuition to complete a project)
February 28th - Saturday (10am-3pm)
"Wool Applique"
Students choose a wool applique pattern from the store prior to class & instructor will have this ready for them on class date. Class instruction will cover basic wool applique techniques, the use of stabilizers, threads & stitches.
Tuition: $35.00 plus supplies (pattern/wool/threads-price varies depending on student's choice).
March 14th & 28th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Traditional Oval Braided Rug"
Students learn how to braid a continuous 2'x3' oval rug. If students wish to make a different size oval, please contact the instructor prior to class.
Note: Basic hand sewing or sewing machine skills are required.
Tuition: $75.00 (Tuition covers instruction for both sessions.) Supplies Needed: Booklet $19./Wool-6 yards at $36. per yard / Lacing Thread $14. / Lacer $4. / Clamp (optional) $65. (Note: Wool needed for a braided rug is based on approximately 1-yard per square foot.)
March 19th - Thursday (10am-3pm)

"Cross Stitching with Jeralyn Lorenz"
Celebrate the 250th anniversary of America signing of the Declaration of Independence. To commemorate, students will be working on cross stich pattern, "Parade Sam" by Notforgotten Farm.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (pattern-$10 / threads & foundation cloth vary depending on student choice. Students can feel free to bring their own hoop or frame to class or can purchase one from our store.)
April 2nd - Thursday (10am-3pm)

"Springtime at Shepherd's Wool"
Students can choose from a variety of kits that will be made available for this lass. Come & see the new things Shepherd's Wool has for this spring! Instruction will be provided for all kits that will be made available in class.
Tuition: $25. plus whichever kit student chooses to work on.
April 18th - Saturday (10am - 3pm) - This Class is "Full"
"Rug Punch with Mary Shepherd"
Mary is a certified Oxford Punch Needle Teacher. Students will learn the basics of rug punch style of rug making with wool yarn. Small pattern will be taught by the instructor.
Tuition: $35. plus supplies (punch needle $45. / pattern $35. / yarn-price varies)
April 23rd - Thursday (10am - 3pm)
"Adding Braids to Rug Hooking"
Students need to come to class with a project already hooked or near completion.
Note: Hand & basic sewing skills are required
Tuition: $45. plus supplies (Supplies needed: wool (price varies), lacing thread $5.50 / booklet $19. / lacer $4. (only needed if adding more than 1 braided row) / braiding clamp $65. (optional)
May 2nd & 16th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)

May 9th - Saturday (10am - 3pm)
"Hook a Footstool"
Note: This class will be held in the lower level of our building, so students must be able to navigate stairs. Students should have some rug hooking experience prior to enrolling in this class. This is a two-part class. A follow up class will be scheduled for students to construct the footstool once hooking has been completed.
Students will learn how to hook & assemble a footstool using the footstool/patterns at Shepherd's Wool. These can be hooked with traditional rug hooking wool fabric strips or rug punched with yarn. Instructions will also be given on how to make your own pattern for a footstool that you might find at a thrift store, or just one that you have in your home that you wish to cover with rug hooking.
Part 1: May 9th: We will discuss the styles of footstools, pattern choices, color planning & techniques for hooking footstools.
Part 2: October 10th: Will check-in with students prior to this date, to see progress & assemble footstools for those who are ready. (Note: Another date will be scheduled for those needing more time to complete their footstool).
Tuition: $60. (covers both days of class) Students will choose style of footstool & pattern - price varies.
May 23rd - Saturday (10am - 3pm)

"Dyeing to Try It!"
Learn how to make beautiful hand-dyed colored wool fabric using several different dye methods.
Note: This is a hands on class and will be held in the lower level of our building so students must be able to navigate stairs.
Tuition: $65. (Includes instruction & dyed wool samples)
